delete your account

from the app

1. open mahfah and go to your profile tab
2. scroll to the bottom and tap "delete account"
3. confirm twice (the deletion is permanent)
4. your account and your data are deleted straight away. in the rare case a photo file cannot be removed in that moment, the app tells you so and the remaining files are cleared automatically within 24 hours

what gets deleted

• your profile, photo, and username
• all lore you created
• all votes and judgments you made
• your aura score and badges
• all notifications
• your auth credentials

deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. lore about you (on your profile) is deleted with it. a line YOU added to someone else's lore stays on their profile but is de-identified (your authorship is removed); a crowd claim you posted about someone is deleted outright. reports you filed are kept for moderation history, also de-identified. the one thing we deliberately keep after you delete: content we are legally required to preserve (for example, material reported for child safety) may be retained for law enforcement as required by law.

can't access the app?

if you can't log in or access the app, email us at support@mahfah.app from the email address associated with your account. include your username if you remember it. we'll delete your account within 48 hours.

data retention

after deletion, your account and your database records are purged straight away. photo files are removed in the same operation; if a storage error prevents that, an automatic sweep clears whatever is left within 24 hours and the app tells you at the time rather than claiming the deletion is complete. cached copies in CDNs may take up to 72 hours to expire. our database provider keeps automatic daily backups for a short rolling window (currently seven days) for disaster recovery. we do not restore from them to recover a deleted account, and each backup ages out on its own, so your records are gone from the last of them within a week of deletion. the one exception is content that has been reported for child safety and is awaiting or subject to review by us or by law enforcement: we preserve a copy of that material as we are required to, and it is not removed by deleting your account.
